His name is on the door, he has a backpack hook, a ladybug marks his table space, and of course their is a behavior chart, now on "greeen", with his name on it! And more than just that, our names were on a Parent handbook! We have joined "that crowd"...parents of a school-age child!!

We went to Open House at School tonight, and met Grayson's teacher and saw his new classroom. We are excited for Grayson for this new opportunity. He got a chance to talk to his teacher, and I'm glad to know her a little already. Grayson actually opened up and talked to her as she opened the bag of goodies that we had picked out to give to her. I heard her ask if he was excited about school, and his response was "Yes, but I'm a little nervous too". She smiled and told him everything was going to be great and that he would love it there.

Although I am excited about him being here and all the wonderful things he is going to learn and do, I am most anxious to see how he will react day after day. I see some resistance in my future, but praying that it will not come. My sensitive soul can be wounded very easily, and I am thankful to have seen a mild-mannered boy sitting beside him at his table. We have also seen this incredibly "perfectionist" side of Grayson coming out lately and I worry about meltdowns if something is not done as he feels like it should be. Before you say so, yes, I know where he gets that from. Mom, maybe you can give me some tips as to how you dealt with "perfectionist" children!! Please pray that Grayson will just flourish in this environment. He is going to love the academics, will be fine with the routine and structure, and is going to love all the "specials" of gym, music, art, etc. It is the socialization, shyness, and being so hard on himself that worries me most. Overall, we are all excited about this new adventure for Grayson and know that he is in a great place!! We're ready for Monday morning-no kleenexes necessary!!

I'm excited for Grayson, but can hardly believe that the time has gone by so fast & that he is at this stage of life already....as a former pre-school teacher, I like what I see in the photos as far as the classroom - cleanliness, colorful, bulletin board with the word Jesus on it, to distinguish it from a non-christian school....& with you being a former teacher, Jayne, taking a bag of goodies to the teacher, you know how uplifting that can be...can't say we went through meltdowns because you & your siblings were/are perfectionists...you'll work through it with words of encouragement & stressing that it is OK if things in life are not perfect....these are the times in life when I wish that we were in the same town so that I was closer to experience all of this, but am also thankful that we are not more hours away...anxiously awaiting to see how all goes Monday & in the future days...praying always, Mom, Gran, Carol, all 1 & the same xoxxo
Jayne I don't know Grayson very well, but I think his adaptation to this new environment will probably shock you. He is going to have a wonderful time and learn so many new skills. Plus, he's in such a great place surrounded by such loving, caring people. I hope you all enjoy this experience and we'll be saying a little prayer on Monday morning!
Hooray for Grayson...I think he will be just fantastic in his new class!! I cannot wait to see him at ASCS!
That sweet boy is going to do awesome!! Look he's already teachers pet! She'll love that sweet spirited little boy no doubt. It's always so cute to see their names on everything. Makes them feel important.
I can't wait to hear how it went today - it sure looked like you were BOTH all smiles after pick-up today! :) Success!!
I can't wait to hear the report out from today (Monday)! I'm sure he will do fantastic - it's amazing how the little people respond in a group of peers - I had the same worries for Anderson and to my surprise, no tantrums or break-downs reported from school! Hope you are doing ok Mom!!
