It's Sunday: quiet morning, great day at Church, good food for lunch, hot day but with a slight breeze. What to do, what to do? Say "Yes absolutely, we'd love to j
oin you for an afternoon on the boat skiing! We'll be there" We have some dear friends who have a boat and they invited us to go skiing. For the majority of us on the boat this afternoon, we all grew up on the lake in the summer, and that of course meant waterskiing! For me the times in the summer on Lake Papineau in Canada were awesome!! What is there better to do for family vacation than go to the cottage on the lake with the sandy beach, visit with grandparents and family, swim, play badminton, grill out, porridge breakfasts, devotions and music with grandpa each morning, games at night, waterskiing, "surfing", fishing, and of course, GEORGE! (For those of you reading and not family, George was in the infamously named outhouse that we had to use because there was no bathroom inside!)We had a great time reminiscing about our summer's with family and just the other memories that came flooding back as we went thoughout the afternoon.

Trevor made me out to be a huge Jr. Champion skier. But when it came to my turn--on 2 skis--not only did I bail on my first attempt (although it was graceful), I was a chicken to go over the wake. It definitely took me back to the last time I went skiing, which was more than 10 years ago! I always hated the wake, going over is never the problem, it's getting back. So by the time I got up my nerve and went over, I stayed to the left of the boat for as long as I could before attempting to get back behind and inevitably bail hard. Great times though. I'll leave some of the other stories and great water feats for the other bloggers to tell. But can I just say-wakeboarding under, and OVER the rope of a fellow waterskier?! And cheers to the moms, of which I was definitely the least Pro.

Me in Sept. 1985 at the Cottage
The afternoon was a huge success! We pulled the boat up on shore in Pungo and got out to swim. Dad, the water and shore and sandy bottom reminded me of Grandma Sargeant and how she would always go out and rake the bottom of the lake so that it was nice and soft for us to walk on. We had a wonderful afternoon, lots of new memories: building relationships, waterskiing, snacking, sleeping or maybe just dozing, tubing, etc. Thanks Ratz's and Boyers for a great lazy Sunday afternoon!

Sue and Heidi, I beat you to it! I had nothing better to do this afternoon seeing as Grayson was just tuckered out from yesterday and is now napping!! I'll leave some of the other stories to you all to tell and I'm getting ready to do the pics so that I can share all 100 that were taken with you!
Looks like fun! What a great afternoon for a day on the boat:)
Jayne, we really did have a great, great day, didn't we!? :) My jaws hurt when we got home from laughing with ya'll all day! What fun memories! You have to email me the pictures before I can blog...I only grabbed a few pictures!! :) To many, many more fun times in building our incredible friendship together! We love ya'll!
Sounds like a great time for all of you! I love your pictures, Jayne, of "now and then" - they are so cool to bring back memories and then see the present-day ones. Very cool! Glad you all got to have such fun together.
It was an awesome day for sure!! and yes the memories of childhood for all of us came flooding back... and look we are making the same ones for our children to forever have in their mind.
There's just something calming about being on the water. The drive for me to ski again I guess overtook the terror I felt with Sue traumatizing me that there were snakes in the water. I guess I waited until last because I knew if everyone else made it alive then I could too:) Can't wait for more fun times!!!
